Emery {10 Months}

Our little sweetheart is TEN months old!!! Ten months just seems so much older than nine months... I guess it's the double digits.

She truly is just our little bundle of joy. She is so much fun and really happy most of the time. I'm not sure if I should even dare to say this, but she's getting a little easier, too. I used to stress out any time we would go anywhere, but it really seems to be getting easier.

Silly girl!

Six Month Update
Seven Month Update
Eight Month Update
Nine Month Update

Here's what's been going on with Emery the last month.

- We won't go back to the doctor until her 12 month checkup {Nooooo!}, but we're guessing she weighs about 21 pounds. I think she's grown a little in height, too. Some of her footie pajamas are getting too short for her.

- She's wearing mostly 6-12 month and 9-12 month clothes and they fit just right. There are a couple of 9 month pajamas that still fit, but we're transitioning into 12 month. She's wearing a size 3 diaper.

- Her schedule is pretty much the same as last month and she's doing great with it!! She's doing so much better with the longer stretch of awake time in the evening and really doesn't get too cranky anymore if we're home. If we're out and about at that time of day, she might fall asleep for a few minutes in the car, but it really hasn't messed with her bedtime yet.

- Naps and just sleeping in general are still the most unpredictable thing about her. Most of the time her naps are at least an hour or more, but every now and then she'll sleep for 20-30 minutes and be up and ready to go. She'll usually sleep until 6:45-7:00 in the morning, but again, sometimes she'll wake up super early and not go back to sleep...usually on a Saturday, of course. ;)

I love how she gathered all her little stuffed animals close to her! <3
- This baby *loves* to eat. She's taking 4 bottles a day {I'm starting to try giving one of them in a sippy cup and she's not liking it one bit}. She licks and smacks her lips every time we put her bib on before her bottle. :) She also eats three meals every day. I give her flavored oatmeal cereal in the morning for breakfast and then fruits and veggies for lunch and dinner. We've also started giving her some little bites of whatever we're eating for lunch and dinner because she's been acting super interested in it. She'll see us eating and come over and just wait for us to feed her something. Some of the new things she's tried this month are: plums, pineapple, brown rice, turkey, cheese ravioli, garlic bread, strawberries, clementines, blueberry muffin, chicken salad, croissant, spaghetti, chicken, roasted potatoes, cheese, and cilantro lime rice. I have been *so* surprised that she's loved it all and I really hope that continues!!! Every time we feed her, she says "mmmmmm" and "num num num" the entire time she's eating. I *love* it!!! She's also fed herself a few bites of food with a fork!! I'll put a little bite on the fork and then she'll put it in her mouth herself!

- We just got her a high chair a few days ago. We were feeding her in her Bumbo seat, but she was getting to the point where she could practically get herself out of it. I really don't like how she looks so much like a big girl in the high chair, but she seems to like it pretty well so far. She especially enjoyed the box. :)

- Speaking of eating, she's developed a bad habit of blowing raspberries when she's eating. I can't tell you how many times I've been sprayed with baby food. I always tell her no and then she'll usually do it again. It's so darn cute and it's really hard not to laugh! A couple of times I'll lean down to look at her at eye level to tell her no, and she'll lean forward toward my face like she's listening really close. So cute!!

- Emery should have three teeth any day now. She has two on the bottom, and I've been seeing one on the top for several days. It just hasn't quite cut through the gums yet. Bless her heart. :(

- She had just started to learn how to wave last month and she does it pretty consistently now. Sometimes it's the backwards wave like she's waving at herself, sometimes it's the forward wave, and sometimes she just flaps her whole arm. She also learned how to clap this month! She does it sometimes when music comes on, when we sing pat-a-cake, and sometimes just for the fun of it.

- She pulls up on everything and has started to cruise around by holding onto furniture. It's really amazing how fast this happens! She'll climb on everything, too. She's tried to climb up in her swing {she pretty much hates being in her swing now, though}, and she's climbed up on the first step of our stairway. She used to cry when she got tired of standing and we would come and sit her down, but now she's figured out how to sit down herself.

- She can crawl really fast...especially if she sees something she wants. Usually if she spots something she wants, she'll squeal and take off for it!

- She is obsessed with my phone and computer. There's no way I can use my computer if she's awake because she will be all over it! She gets really excited and will make these cute little happy sounds. She does the same thing with my phone. Daniel always calls me on his way home and I usually put him on speaker. As soon as she hears him, she is all smiles. It's seriously precious!

- She stands up in her crib almost as soon as we lay her down unless she's *super* tired. We were glad when she finally figured out how to sit down because we used to have to go in there several times to lay her back down. Standing up in her crib has also allowed her to start chewing on her crib! One morning I went in there, and she had little white flakes all around her mouth from the paint! We also had to take down the mobile {actually, I guess technically Emery took it down herself} and move the camera monitor up higher because she kept messing with them. A couple of times we would look at the monitor and we would get a close up of her face or we'd see her licking it!! So funny!

- It's kind of an understatement to say that she is into everything. I can't leave her for even a few seconds because she is just all over the place. She can get into the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen, she loves the dishwasher, and we can hardly keep her away from the stairs and the blinds. She's extremely determined and persistent. She'll be messing with the blinds, we'll tell her no, then she'll move on to the next window and mess with those blinds. She's the same way with the stairs. She'll start climbing up, we'll tell her no and move her, and then she crawls right back to them. Consistency is exhausting!!!

- Something new she started this month and only did for about a week or so was pucker her lips up and sniff her nose. It was *so* adorable and I'm so glad I got a video of it since she didn't do it long. <3

- Our girl is a little dancer! She almost always shakes her head back and forth when she hears the music that her toys play {especially Violet and her elephant bouncer} or when I sing songs to her. Sometimes it's just the head shake, and sometimes she puts her whole body into it. I laugh so hard every time I watch this video!!

- She is really starting to understand a lot of what we say. Most of the time we can ask her to do something {clap, wave, dance, go get Wubby or Ellie, go get her ball...} and she'll do it. We also got her this elephant ball popper for Christmas and she has mastered pressing the button. It's usually the first thing she does when she starts playing in the mornings. She'll always do it when we ask her to, although she's pretty enthusiastic about it on her own. As soon as the music goes off, she's usually pressing that button again.

- She has an independent streak! We got her the elephant stride and ride for Christmas and she *loves* it!!! She goes crazy bouncing on that thing. She wants to do it all by herself, though. If we put our hand on it to steady her, she quickly moves our hand off!

- Diaper changes have probably become her least favorite thing ever! She starts crying as soon as I lay her down. Usually, I can make her happy by giving her something to play with, but a toy never makes her happy. She is only interested in random things on the changing table like a diaper, diaper rash cream, the bulb syringe, or the tube to the NoseFrida. If she doesn't like something I offer her, she throws it off the side!

- She wiggles her feet and bounces up and down when she gets excited!

- She loves bath time! We got her some little toys that squirt and she loves them!! She loves to splash and play with her toys {and a washcloth}! :)

- Wubby, Ellie, and Kit Kat still make her so happy! She'll make a little happy squeal when she sees one. She pretty much has to have one to hold when she's taking her bottles and she'll rub her nose and face with the paws when she's sleepy. Every now and then, I'll try and give her one of them at the wrong time and she'll just throw it on the floor. This little one might have a little temper. :)

- We *love* her laughs!! A lot of the things that used to make her laugh don't work anymore, so we've got to figure out some new stuff. Daniel can always get her to giggle by tickling her or kissing her with his stubbly face. Peekaboo usually still works, too! She lets out some belly laughs! <3

- Lately, she's started to lay her head down on things that are soft. She'll lay her head down on the couch, or if there's a stuffed animal or blanket on the floor, she'll just lay her head down on it for a few seconds and then pop back up. We also think she *might* be giving hugs. Every now and then, we ask her for a hug, and she'll lean her head on our shoulder for a quick minute. Melts our hearts every time.

- I don't really think she's saying any more new words. Still just mama, dada, and uh-uh. She babbles a lot, though. Sometimes it sounds like she's talking, but in her very own language. She says a lot of things that sound like "buh", "wawawa" and "ha".

- She doesn't stay still long enough anymore to lay on her play mat, but she still loves playing with it. She'll go up to it and just shake it like crazy to get the music to play. This girl loves some music!

- She loves the chandelier in her room. As soon as we go in her room to get her in the morning or from a nap, she instantly looks at the chandelier waiting for us to turn it on.

- I can usually get some good snuggle time if I sing to her. She really loves "The Wheels on the Bus", "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Pat-a-Cake", and a new favorite, "Old McDonald". We have finger puppets for that one and she loves taking them off our fingers.

- She explores everything! Usually by putting it in her mouth, but she's started feeling everything, too. She always feels things by scratching them. I don't know why, but I think it's so funny. She does it with books that have textures, too. She always scratches them instead of feeling them with her fingers.

- Pat the Bunny is still one of her favorite books and she gets excited every time we sit down to read it. She can do almost every page now. She surprised me one day when she started waving on the last page when it says "can you wave bye-bye?". She did it even before I started reading that page! So, so sweet. She really loves to read almost any book...especially if they have flaps or fun textures for her to feel. I love reading with her!!
