First trimester? Check! I can't believe 12 weeks have gone by already! I'm hoping all of these good things I'm hearing about the second trimester start coming true soon! :)
How Far Along: 12 weeks and 1 day
Size of Baby: According to The Bump, the baby is the size of a plum and is about 2.1 inches long.
Total Weight Gain: 4 pounds so far
Gender: We scheduled our ultrasound yesterday! We'll find out on October 17th! :)
Maternity Clothes: I have a few things, but I've been wearing most of my regular clothes with the belly band as long as I can! I'll wear maternity clothes on days when I know I want to be super comfortable, like when we went to the Alabama game.
Wedding Rings On/Off: On
Stretch Marks: None yet
Sleep: Pretty good! I've been going to bed around 9:30 every night, but I wake up a couple of times throughout the night.
Cravings/Aversions: I haven't really been craving anything specific this week, but there are a lot of foods that just don't sound good. I also have cooked dinner twice this week and then haven't wanted to eat it. Cottage cheese and Starburst always sound good, though! {Not together, of course!}
Mood: Last week was an emotional roller coaster with getting back into the school routine. I think I cried every day! This week has been better so far. I think the long weekend helped!
What I Miss: Energy! I also miss food tasting good. Even things that sound good to me still don't taste as good as they used to.
Looking Forward To: Seeing the baby on our next ultrasound and finding out what it is! :)
Best Moment This Week: Hearing our baby's heartbeat at our 12 week appointment yesterday. It was 161 bpm!

Weekend Rewind {Alabama Football Game}
Why do three day weekends {well, make that any weekend} have to go by so fast? We had such a fun weekend and I'm sad it's almost over! We got some much needed rest this weekend and also got a few things done around the house. We are s-l-o-w-l-y cleaning out the room that will be the nursery. It's been our "junk room" ever since we moved into the house. Anything that we didn't know what to do with went in that room...and now, we're finally having to go through it. It's a good thing, though! :)
Anyway, the best part of the weekend was our day on Saturday! I mentioned here that we decided to go to the first Alabama football game on a whim and we are so glad we did. In fact, we had so much fun that we pretty much want to go to every game now...too bad that won't happen!
We left Birmingham pretty early on Saturday morning...well, early enough that we could make it to Chick-fil-A for breakfast. If we are ever out and about together in the morning, it's pretty much guaranteed we're getting breakfast at Chick-fil-A! We had to take a baby bump picture before we left. :)
Pretty much every single person at Chick-fil-A was wearing Alabama stuff! That's one thing that I love about college football in the south. It's just so exciting! It was like that on the drive to Atlanta, too. Almost every car on the road looked like this. It was the same at the rest stop we stopped at...Alabama fans everywhere!
We made it to Atlanta around 2:00 and found a place to park. We looked up some restaurants that were within walking distance and decided on a place called Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria. Just like everywhere else we'd been so far, this place was full of Alabama fans...and a few VT fans.
It was a really cool pace with chalkboard walls and an open kitchen area so you could see the pizza ovens.
We ended up getting the margherita pizza...a crispy thin crust with sauce {so good!}, mozzarella, and fresh basil. Who would think that a leaf would taste so good?! :)
After lunch, we made the quick walk from Max's to the Georgia Dome.
Once we were inside, we were on the hunt to find our section...no easy task in a place that big. We passed several Alabama "super suites". We were dying to get a peek inside just to see the view they had!
We finally found our section and since we were about an hour away from kick off, we decided to explore all the food they had there. It was *hot* on our walk over, so I was in the mood for something cold and refreshing. I saw somebody with something that looked like sherbet and my mind was made up! We found it and I got a big cup of green apple which tasted like lime...exactly what I wanted! :)
Once we were in our seats, we were able to see how gigantic this place is! I had never been there before and it blew my mind!
All the pre-game activities were so exciting! My favorite part was when all these little Chick-fil-A cows with parachutes came falling from the ceiling!
It was a great game! We loved every minute of it...well, except for the lady next to us who continuously yelled, "Let's go, Bamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" {Seriously, she would hold it out for 30+ seconds. Why?}
Once the game was over, we walked back to the car and cut through Centennial Park. It was neat to see the new ferris wheel all lit up at night!
It took us about three hours to get home with all of the traffic and I'll be honest, I slept about half the trip! I did wake up to enjoy a little late night McDonald's trip with my sweetheart, though. He needed a little caffeine since I wasn't helping keep him awake! :)
I'm so glad we got to have this day together and I'm so excited for the rest of the season! How much fun would it be if we made it to another national championship?!? It could happen!
Have a great week, y'all!

Pizza Bites {Football Food}
Only one more day until college football starts!!! Yay!! I am SO excited! I do love watching the game every week, but one of my favorite things about football season is having a reason to make fun appetizers and snacks. I shared the recipe for cheddar bacon dip last week which is of our favorites. It is so good! This week, I'm sharing another one of our favorites. Pizza bites!
These pizza bites are easy, cute, and most importantly, delicious! They also taste great at room temperature so you don't have to stress about keeping them warm. Just serve them with a side of your favorite marinara sauce and you have a great party snack. To make this recipe even easier, I always use pre-made pizza dough. I buy it in the bakery section at Publix. You could definitely make it with your own favorite pizza dough recipe, though.
Here's the recipe!
Pizza Bites
Makes about 20-24 bites
Printer Friendly Version
1 lb. pizza dough (enough for one whole pizza)
4 oz. mozzarella cheese (20-24 pieces)
Pepperoni
Topping:
olive oil
Italian seasoning
grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 400˚ F. Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate or cake pan. Divide the pizza dough into 20-24 roughly equal sized pieces. Take one of the dough pieces, top with a cube of cheese and a slice or two of pepperoni. Pull the edges of the dough around the fillings and pinch closed. Place seam-side down in the baking dish. Repeat with the remaining dough pieces.
Lightly brush the tops of the dough balls with olive oil. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown. Serve warm, with dipping sauce as desired.

{Tutorial} How To Create Custom Chalk Art
Update: Want to see more chalk art? Click here to see my weekly baby bump chalkboards! :)
I've had several questions about how I made the chalkboard art I used in our pregnancy announcement pictures. It was actually pretty easy...a little time consuming, but I thought it was worth it. And I promise, anyone can do this. I absolutely cannot do anything artsy by hand, so I have to have something to trace. Doing it this way, I was able to turn some of my favorite fonts into cute chalkboard art. I used this website for the chalk art idea. {Have you seen her baby bump chalkboards?! Oh my goodness, the cuteness!} And I used this basic tutorial for how to get the art I made on the computer transferred to the chalkboard.
There might be a MUCH easier way out there to do this, but here's how I made the art on the computer:
*Also, if you want to know the fonts I used, I listed them at the bottom of this post. :)
1. Open a new presentation in Power Point. Change the slide size by clicking the Design tab at the top and then Slide Size on the far right. Choose Custom Slide Size. My chalkboard {minus the frame} is about 20" x 27" so that's what I entered.

Then I made a text box for "Baby" and continued this for each line.
3. When your art is complete, you'll need to save it as a picture file. Go to File, then Save As. Choose the folder where you want to save it. When the Save As window comes up, name your file, and click on the drop down menu on the right side of the "Save as type:" section.

8. Click on Insert and then Picture. Find where you saved your picture file from Power Point and click Insert.
9. You'll need to resize your picture to cover the whole page - from blue line to blue line. Here's what mine looked like right after I clicked Insert.
See how the picture is smaller than the blue lines that go around the page? |
See how the picture now lines up with the blue lines around the page? That's what you want. |
Once you print it out, this is what you'll have.
11. From here, carefully trim off the edges of white space so that all of the letters will line up correctly. Tape the pages together. I taped the top three pages together, then the middle three, and then the bottom three. I did not tape all three rows together. It's like I have three banners. I thought it would be much easier for transferring the art to the chalkboard and it definitely was.
Once I reached this point, I followed this tutorial exactly except I just traced one banner at a time {step by step photos below}. That way my wrist didn't mess up the middle part while I was detailing the top part.
I started by positioning my banner on the chalkboard to try and get it as centered and straight as possible.
I lightly marked the corners of the position of the top banner on the chalkboard and then colored the back of the banner with colored chalk.
Then I carefully taped the banner in place on the chalkboard and traced over the letters. I used three different tools for this: the end of a Sharpie, the tip of a mechanical pencil, and the tip of a pen. For thicker letters, I used the end of a Sharpie and for skinnier letters I used the tip of the pencil or pen.
I traced the letters, removed the banner, and then went over it again with the chalk. Don't worry about chalk dust or smears. You can fix those later.
I used a pencil sharpener to keep the tip of my chalk sharp. This helped A LOT!!
I repeated the steps above for each banner.
Here's what the chalkboard looked like after I finished all the tracing and retracing.
Remember how I said not to worry about chalk dust and smears? Here's where you're going to fix that. Just get a little bowl of water, Q-tips, and paper towels and touch up any areas that need it. See? Easy!! :)
All done! LOVE! I see lots of chalkboard art in my future! :)
I'd love to see any chalk art you've created! Leave a comment below with a link! Also, feel free to let me know if you have any questions at all! :)
Have a fabulous day, y'all!!
